Carè Alto - Cerana Ridge

Overview

One of the most imposing and fascinating peaks of the Adamello-Presanella group is Carè Alto, rising to 3,464 meters, with significant historical and mountaineering value. The route leading to its summit, characterized by a magnificent high-altitude ridge, is known for being challenging due to the harsh environment and the technical and navigational difficulties. However, the challenge is more than rewarded by the wild panorama that extends across the entire Adamello group, the Presanella, and the majestic Dolomites of Brenta, making the ascent a highly satisfying experience for mountain enthusiasts.

 

 

Itinerary

We meet in the morning for the briefing and a gear check before departure. Then we set off from Val di Borzago, following a steep path through a spectacular landscape, to reach the Carè Alto refuge, where we will spend the night.

 

The next day, an early morning wake-up call is followed by a hearty breakfast before ascending the military path to reach the Bocchetta del Cannone. From there, crossing scree and glacial debris, you arrive at the eastern Vedretta and follow the airy ridge. After reaching the summit, you descend along the normal route towards the Niscli saddle, located at 2,937 meters, and then return to the refuge via the path.
