Overview

The Ferrata di Punta Penia, which follows the west ridge of the Marmolada, offers a unique experience for those looking to reach the highest peak in the Dolomites. This historic route, while not technically challenging, still requires good physical and mental preparation, as it takes place in a wild, high-altitude mountain environment.

The ferrata provides breathtaking views and a true sense of alpine adventure, making it ideal for those seeking a route immersed in the most authentic nature. After reaching the summit, the descent can be made via the Marmolada glacier, a fascinating route that, however, requires solid experience and the proper equipment.

This itinerary offers the opportunity to experience a complete alpine adventure, combining the allure of history and the mountains with the thrill of climbing one of the most iconic peaks in the Dolomites.

Itinerary

The tour begins at Passo Fedaia (2,057 m), at the foot of the majestic Marmolada glacier. From here, a scenic trail takes us to Rifugio Pian dei Fiacconi (2,626 m), a historic base for ascents on the Marmolada. This refuge offers a first stop to admire the surrounding landscape and prepare for the climb.

From the refuge, we continue towards Forcella della Marmolada (2,896 m), where the real via ferrata begins. The route follows the West Ridge, a sharp and spectacular line that requires technique and focus. Along the way, we will face exposed passages and rocky sections that demand a good mastery of climbing techniques.

What to Expect:

  • Scenery: Spectacular views of the Dolomites, the Marmolada glacier, and beyond.
  • Challenges: Technical sections and exposed passages, rock and ice climbing.
  • Experience: A day full of adrenaline, with the guidance of an expert alpine guide, in one of the most iconic mountain landscapes in the world.

This tour is perfect for those who wish to experience the thrill of a great Dolomite ascent, challenging themselves in a natural setting of rare beauty.
