New Year's Eve of Ice Falls - Valle d'Aosta

Overview

Have you ever thought about spending a different kind of New Year? If you love ice climbing, this year we’re offering three days of ice climbing in Cogne, one of the most renowned locations for this amazing activity.

 

The goal of these three days isn’t just to enjoy ice climbing but also to improve our technique, climb multi-pitch ice routes, and deepen our knowledge of safety on frozen waterfalls.

 

Itinerary

A day dedicated to technique and teaching at the Moline ice climbing crag, with a special focus on cascade safety. Overnight stay in a hotel.

Multi-pitch waterfall or mixed route activity tailored to the participants' level. Return to the hotel.

Multi-pitch waterfall or mixed route activity tailored to the participants' level. Debreafing, return home.

  • Harness *

  • Lanyard / Daisy chain
  • Petzl Reverso or similar
  • 2 Screw-Lock Carabiners

 

Footwear

  • Crampon-compatible or semi-crampon-compatible boots

 

Clothing

  • Clothing suitable for ice climbing (long-sleeve underwear and baselayers in microfiber or merino wool, 2 fleece/polartech layers, turtleneck shirt, soft-shell or schoeller pants, overpants in gore-tex, windproof gore-tex jacket, down or synthetic jacket, two pairs of gloves (lightweight and heavy), hat under the helmet, and balaclava)

 

Accessories

  • Trekking poles
  • Headlamp
  • Backpack
  • Thermos for hot beverages
  • Energy food, bars, dried fruit, trail snacks
  • High-protection sunscreen
  • Lip protection

 

The equipment marked with (*) can be provided by the guide if you do not have it, at a cost of 10 euros per item.

 

Costs

The fee includes:

  • Accompaniment by a mountain guide
  • Liability insurance

The fee does not include:

  • Transfers and guide expenses (including overnight stay)
  • Accommodation in the refuge and additional expenses
  • Rental of technical equipment (harness, ice axe, crampons, helmet)
  • Everything not specified in "Included in the fee"
