Overview

Three days of ski mountaineering in one of the most beautiful and historically rich mountain ranges, straddling Lombardy and Trentino.

Although lower in altitude compared to the high Western Alps, this massif offers unique emotions, allowing you to explore wild and rare beauty, where the major works of civilization, which elsewhere facilitate access to the highest peaks, have yet to arrive.

An unmissable opportunity to visit and experience the sites of the Great War (1915-1918). One of the most significant moments of this experience will be the ascent to Mount Giovanni Paolo II (Cresta Croce), which will lead us to one of the most iconic relics still present on the battlefield: the famous 149/G "Ippopotamo" howitzer, the only piece of artillery still stationed on the Adamello front.

Itinerary

Meeting at Passo del Tonale near the ski lifts, followed by a briefing and equipment check. We start the day by taking the lifts up to Passo Presena. From there, we descend toward Rifugio Mandrone for a break. After recharging our energy, we tackle the ascent to Cresta Croce and the nearby Cannone dell'Adamello, a historic relic from the Great War. Overnight stay at Rifugio Ai Caduti dell’Adamello, where we can appreciate mountain hospitality and the rich history that fills every corner.

After an energizing breakfast, we set out to explore Corno Bianco or other peaks of the Adamello range, depending on conditions. A day filled with breathtaking views, with the chance to admire the entire Adamello massif. Return to Rifugio Ai Caduti dell’Adamello for an overnight stay

Today is the day of the great challenge: the ascent to Monte Adamello (3,539 m), the highest peak in the area, offering a breathtaking panorama over the Lombard and Trentino Alps. After reaching the summit, we descend to Passo Venezia and return to Ponte di Legno to conclude this unforgettable experience.
