Overview

The Gran Paradiso, located in the magnificent National Park that bears its name, is the only "4000" entirely in Italy.

This majestic and imposing mountain is one of the most sought-after destinations for ski mountaineering enthusiasts, offering slopes with ideal gradients for an exhilarating descent. The ascent can be completed in two days, with a stop at the Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele, allowing for breathtaking panoramic views.

The vast Gran Paradiso glacier offers one of the most complete ski mountaineering experiences in the Alps, with a superb panorama and a descent that satisfies even the most experienced skiers.

Itinerary

Meeting point in Pont, Valsavarenche. After a brief briefing and a thorough equipment check, ascent to Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II at 2735 m, with overnight stay at the refuge. Elevation gain: 745 m.

Early departure from the refuge with skis on, initially crossing the glacial moraines. As the ascent continues, the slopes become steeper, then soften near the "donkey’s back". The final snow slope is crossed, which, depending on the mountain conditions, can be tackled with crampons. From here, using crampons and roped together, we ascend the final rocky section leading to the Madonna statue at 4061 m. The return is made skiing along the same route as the ascent. Elevation gain: 1326 m.
